WoodyiHiß, Saturday, Soveval deputations waited on the Minister of Lands last night. One from the village settlers asked if. they miglit be allowed to acquire the freehold of their sections. Mr Richardson roplied that Mr Ballance, who inaugurated the system, was anxious to see it have a fair and he (Mr Kichardson) had pledge in the House not to interfere with it.. The deputation complainod of the village settlers not being allowed to acquire freeholds as <x tenants could under the lease system, • - Richardson replied, "You aro living samples of land nationalisation," at the same time pointing out that in no other way could they have obtained such finable terras.
