Mr Elley for his services, ADJUSTMENT OF ACCOUNTS. •Mr J. W, Lang applied for per-, mission to sledge timber and other material on the County road. The matter to left in the Hands of the Engineer. LEAVE Or ABSENCE. Leave of absence for. a "few days was granted to the Engineer, ADVERTISING, In reference to an application from Mr Bredrup to got a share of the advertising for the Pahiatua and Eketabuua Mail, it was resolved to leavo matters ; as 'they stand at pre- L; •' sent, it being considered that the Mastert'on papers met all the demands. ' WHEEL TIBE BY-LAW. _ On the motion of Or Von Kedoh it was rosolved that subjeot to approval of the Inspector of Police, Constable Hocho be appointed in-, speotor under the Wheel Tire Byjjb law. ' ■ A letter was recieved from tho Dunedin Exhibition Cqmmittee asking that the Committee would be very glad to receive mineral exhibits. Tlie matter was left in the hands of Chairman.

KOAD DIVERGENCE. With reference to an application to open the road from the end of Villastreet in the borough of Masterton to the main road, it was found that there were obstacles in the way, and it was resolved to let the matter stand over. - - .... ACCIDENT. A letter was received from Mr 0. A, Pownall, solicitor, for Mr H, Belliss, stating that through the neglect of the Council his client with hi 3 wife and family met with a serious acoident two miles from Tinui, and demanding L 26 damages, without . prejudice to his client as to suing for a larger amount, 'The roadman reported that thy[ road was in fair condition, and othejP* correspondence read showed that i/ohild fell out first; aud Mrs ''Wilis-'" further on, the buggy not being pulled up until it had gone about a chain and a half from the first mishap. .'- . ■ The Engineer reported on the state ;"'bofthe road to the effect that there' J. wbb no danger at the spot, Men \ had been at work metalling, but. tho' shoulder of the meSal had, as usual, • ■ been well taken down.
