Surveyor Genefal promised the Chairman of the Board to send a licensed surveyor to lay off and prepare plans of a road through Okurupete block, and request that he will - see that it is done. That the Board: take the timber left over by Messrs Stevens and Woolf, contrao. tors. That a man be employed to assist Mr Blatohford in repairing the road near his place. ' , OVERSEER'S.BEPORT. Wangaehu Road.—The contract.; under Mr Stevens on this now road has been completed in a. satisfactory manner, and I would recommend thai the balance of the contract money, with the amount of deposit, be' paid. In connection with this work, it was found that two bridges required <■ additional iron work, which I authorised to-be supplied, the .exact cost of which, however, I have been unable to ascertain, hut will do so before the next meeting of the Board. The Contractor obtained more limber than was required for bridges and culverts, and there is now about 1000 feet of | useful material left over which I : would recommend, the Board to purchase for the purpose of construct- ' ing culverts required; on the' portion of tha road before made, and also lor ' repairs which may be required. 1 ' Upper Opaki Road.-The stone- . 1 picking contract on this roa<? is now ' completed, and the contractor oan be [ paid in full. Gardiner's contract on this lino for draining and forming is J ' progressing favorably, and I have ; arranged with Mr K. Expenditure, £2655 18s lOd. The debit balance at the beginning of the year was £298 Is fld, and it now amounted to £B9B 4s 9d, but was covered, with assets amounting to £842. ■ Mi Blatchford, in moving adoption of the statement- of receipts and expenditure for tho year, ' took the opportunity to oompliment ili- . the Board upon the efficientmanneiw* in which they had carried out' their''. duties to the ratepayers.
