When u Mr 'Lowes , took office there was a large { of arrears owing for rent, .and by his" ' energetic action that 'had been ra«; duced quite four-fifths. Some, eien who had held seats on the Trust, had been largely indebted in that way, , but' there were none in that posnjtn on the present Board. Mr McEwen said having voted the sum and authorised the Chairman to settle the time and placo of the picnic, and he having done so tho question was settled.

Mr W. Sellar, Secretary to .the Masterton School Committee applied to the Trustees to organise a picnic for that school in accordance with the Act, and suggested the Queen's Birthday as the day upon which to hold it.

Mr Galloway proposed that the request be acceded to. He suggested the Fernridge School Committee should be asked to join in on that day instead of the 18th inshJlt would bring them within the a^Jfc) Mr McEwen said the,Fornridge School Committee had already made tboir arrangements, and- he thought they would not care to change Mr day,
