Auckland, April 29, ■ At the annual meeting of the lackland Tramway Company held to-day, the Chairtuati (Mr" j" W. Oltnk) stated that the Directors had endeavored to get rid of tlie land held by the Company. It was appurent that wlulu the land might ultimately recover its value, tho Company were not strong enough to hold it until that time.—in fact thi land was_ in reality crushing: the the Company, As regards .the future policy of the Company, the Directors had to admit that they did not see their way cleir iiiilisb something turned up in the shape of a now motive power. They Haw no prospect of success, and therefore they had no recommendation to make. At present the Company was in reality living on sufferance, but if allowed to go on t'jo Directors would endeavor'to pnt.it on a bettor footing, They liar! endeavored to make kohi« arrangements for the niniiing of the cai's by electricity.
