~ _ Christcmmi, April 29. j It is said that a petition is being prepared for presentation to the Minister for justice in ordor to obtain the discharged Dinard and Carter, who, with another man named Harrison, were convicted at the last session, of'the'Supreme Court of conspiring to accuse John Godfrey Cook of obtaining money by false pretences at Tiaikoura, It is said that Harrison has made a statement that he himself stole the money which Cook was falsely said to have obtained, and afterwards' fabricated the story in order to account for the deficiency, aud that tlio men who were convicted with him had up hand in the matter.
