Maunceville Road Board.
The ordinary meeting of llio Road Board was held on the 27th April, 1889. Present—Messrs (Junder Gundersen (Chairman), Charles Forshci'g, Pfttr Mndsen, and John Bannister, Tho minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, Correspondence : From Clerk of County Council requesting returns of receipts ami expenditure. Prom Mr B. Binlden re permission to < erect fence on the road lending jiaaf • bis property. From J. Brednip re advertising in the Eketuhuna and Pnhiatua Mail, From Mr C. Tail objecting lo slip being thrown on to section 25, Block V., Kopuaeanga. From Eslceld Petersen askinjr loss to be cleared on road leading to Ihb section. From Treasury ro granting of loans, Prom residents of Jackson's road re suspension of ranger on Jackson's road. From Commissioner of Property Tux Department ro - statement of values, Nine tenders & wers received for clearing slip on '- Jackson's road, C, Madsen'a for the sum of 16 being accepted. Resolved; —That Mr N Meld Petersen's letter be referred lo tlio new Board ; That tho Board wish Mr Bivdrup every success in his new venture, but are not propared to make any alteration at present, That Mr Budden's letter lie referred to tho new Board. That tenders be called for eight chains metalling to close on May 9th, 1889, on Ureyer's Bock road, and the same be placarded and tho Chairman be authorised to open tenders ou that (lay. That the. Chairman lie empowered to repair the bridge on Jliitiricevilie South road, and put a few loads of metal on North road, That Mr Jackson be authoiised lo employs man for a few days' woik , on Fabian's road. Accounts amount' ingto £1 were passed for payment, Tbe Treasurer repoited a credit balance of £l9l 5s sd, Messrs Jackson and Bannister were appointed to sign cheques. The Collector reported ratea collected from March i* 2nd op to date 9s 7|d, and the W- meoting adjourned, Carterton Borough Council, The ordinary monthly meeting was held on Monday. Present: Tbe Mayor, and Crs Booth, W. Vickerstaff, Thos. Moore, (I. IV. Deller, and A. Mackenzie. Tho minutes of the previous meeting having been read and confirmed, the Treasurer reported debit balance of Ll4 23 9d; receipts since last meeting, L1710s; outstanding rates, L6217fl Hd. The Clerk reported that tho Burgess roll had been compiled and advertised according to tho Act. Mr Doer wrote, asking to have some repairs undo to the road near his place, and gorse to bo cleared off tho' road, Tho Mayor said that it was a road wbicn was not made any use of at present. From A. Armstrong, complaining **- r that through the liegligonce of tho man employed in carting gravel hi« cowsjwe let oat of the paddock, and L. they got impounded, and ha had to js ; pay 38, which he asked to bo refunded. No action was taken in the
matter of Deer's letter, and the case of A. Armstrong web obliged to stand over for further information, Tlie Inspector's report was received and approved. Tho roadman's report was read stating particulars where he had been employed during the past month. Some discission on the site of gravel pits occupied some considerable time, but no ■ definite arrangement was come to; also a discussion on the insurance on the Old Town Hall. The question was whether they should continue the insurance, as the Borough was receiving nothing for the use of the Hull; it was decided not to let the Hall again for entertaianients, and so reduce the rate of insurance. Accounts amounting lo LOO were passed for payment and tbo mating adjourned.
