(From Our Own Correspondent.). Mr Syvorsen is removing his saw mill to the new bush he has leased at Newman. About a fortnight will see it in full work. The annual election of Eketahuna ' Bohool committee took placointhe J school room, Mr Aloxander Anderson j in the'chair. The chairman stated that the committee had held twelve meetings during tbo year, and they < had worked well together. Thoy did not, in taking office, entirely agree with the schoolmaster as to the management of tho school, but they f J *"iided to let him have his own way. b income for tho year was £44 Bs, senditure .£42 19a, leaving a bal- , fu/ce of 9s. The incoino for the onrront would be less than last year. Tliey received certain moneys from the Wesleyan denomination; that body had now a church of their oiyii, and tho insonio would bo lost. Tho question now for the committee to consider was how to provide funds to meet expenses. It was suggested by Mr Fulober that a charge of one shilling per bead should bo made on each ohild attending the school. The chairman said tliiß could not be imposed. A vote of thanks was passed to the retiring committee, Tho eleotion of a new committee then proceeded with the following result ilessrs J. Bredrup 46, A. Anderson 43, Bright 88, Selby 38, M. Neilson 29, Syversen 20, Parsons 18. Several others were nominated. Tho gentloman who received the largest number of votes was not present. His absence seemed to be the reason that ho was elected; he waß proposed, but objected | to on the ground that he was not a householder and that a written notice consenting to stand was not sent in. . iwwever, to test the legality of the ho was elected. Mr Anderson was afterwards elected chairman.
