SIX AT A BIRTH.
Mrs George Hivsh of Navarro County, St Louis, gave birth to six children recently. The mother and the children are doing well, and the father is reasonably happy says the local paper. Mrs Hirst is 27 years old. She has been married five years, and was the mother of three children. Of the six born last, four were boys and two were girls. A reporter visited the Hirsh family. Mr Hirsh is a substantial farmer, and he lives in a plain but comfortable log house, Mrs Hirsh is a native of Bavaria. The first one born is the one now oalled Victoria. Ten minutes after the birth of the child, and when Mrs Hirst thought her trouble was over, Mrs Petrio went out to call Mr Hirsh from tho Field, whero he was picking cotton; She was absent for a few minutes, and when sho returned, Mrs .Hirsh' had given birth to two more children, boys, Sho had scarcely time, to express her wonder and pick up the little things before a fourth was born, the girl Ijoujsa, At this poriod Mr Hirsh entered, and as he. did so, and while he was trying to assist his mother-in-law with the new arrivals, the 'fifth was born, Mrs Hirsh bocamevery weak, and her mother attended her while the father surveyed his four naked infants lying on the bed, three of them squealing lustily. Mrs Hirsli continued to grow weaker, and complained of terrible pain, Mrs Petri© left her for an instant to get some hot water, and while she was absent the sixth child was born. At: this time Miss Hirsh returned to the house and helped care for the babies. After the birth of the last child Mrs Hirsh began to .grow better rapidly, The. order of the birth of the children," except the girls, is unknown.' The boys were mixed up after their birth, and no one knows whioh of them .is tho oldest or youngest. The Hirshes are simple', ignorant people.. The mother workod in the field picking cotton until within two hours of the birth of the children. She is a bigj strong woman, and walked about the house looking after her children within 48 hours after. the birth of the last one. .The 'children are carefully "tagged" to preserve their identity, though, as s'fated' before, the boys were mixed up'after their birth. .;
