Auckland, April 10. Three children aged from eight to eleven years, were charged before the Bench to-day, with being unlawfully on promises at 1 o'clock in the morning. They were found in a stable with a candle alight, and striking matches, The parents of two oi the children professed their inability to control the boys, and these two were remanded, the third being dismissed.
A Good Suggestion. Auckland, April 10. A suggestion Ims been made that the Auckland citizens should show their appreciation of the noble and humane conduct of Mataafa and the Samoan natives in their efforts to save life during the reciut disaster in Apia Harbour, and that in consequence of the destruction of their supplies of food, a gift of provisions, stores, etc., should be made them.
Not the Actual MurdererGisbohne, April 10. Heira tho Maori under sentence of deatn for the murder of the Pook family, has made a statement denying that he was the actual murderer, though he admits being present. H e accuses others, amongst them his brother,
New Freezing Works. • Waipawa, Thursday, Nelson Bros., have decided to start large freezing works at Waipawa that will employ Borne 60 men when in work. They expect to make a start in October.
Grand Lodge. Auckland, April 10. A general meeting of Freemasons of the Auckland district was held tonight at the Masonic Hall, about 250 members being present, when it was agreed by a large majority that it is desirable in the interests of Freemasonry that a United Grand Lodge of free and accepted Masons of New Zealand should be constituted with the assent of the majority of the lodges now working in tho - Colony and the Grand Lodges of England, Ireland and Scotland, respectively. In order the better to carry out tbis resolution tbose present constituted themselves a branch of tho New Zealand Masonic Uuion.
