Carterton Borough Council.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Council was held on Thursday. Present—The Major, and Crs Vickeratafif, Jas. Bayliss, G, \V. Dellor, T. •Moore, and A. Mackenzie. An application from Mr Downard to erect a verandah in front (of his new shop was granted. The roadman's report was read; Cr Mooro reported that Butler's contract on Lincoln ltoad was not satisfactorily done, and thought it was a decided mistake in passing contraota and then having to send their own workman to complete what the con-' tractor ought to havo done. EeBolved that Butler be notified that lie has not fiuished his contract accord ing to specifications and that he wil' not be paid till he has. •Eesolvcd that the roadman expend two pounds in repairs to Park Road, and also some repairs to the main road; Cr. Moore moved and Cr Viokerstaff seconded, that the Board's roadman, in future pass all road work let by the Borough. Coui.oil before tho monies are paid. Some accounts were passed for payment and the meeting adjourned,
