Mr E. Withell, of Brookside, Canterbury, has been awarded second prize for his patent improved differential churns exhibited at the Exhibition. March 22. Messrs H. Davies (Speaker), J. L. Dow (Minister of Agriculture), H. J. Wrixon (Attorney-General), and Sir B, O'Loghlen, have been returned unopposed.' Altogether 230 candidates, have been nominated, of which 180 are in favor of the Government. 140 have declare! themselves opposed to an increase of the stock tax. Sir William Clarke was last night instilled as grand Master of the United Grand Lodge of Victorian Masons. The ceremony was a most imposing spectacle.
