In reply to a letter from Way Lee, a Chinese merohant, the Chinese Ambassador at London says'it has been deoided to hold a Conference between England and -China shortly to consider the immigration question. He requests Way Lee to petition the Governments of New South : Wales and Queensland to remove the border tax on Chinaman passing from one colony to another. If this does not meet with favorable response the Ambassador advises that urgent appeals should be made to the British Government. He says that China objects to her subjects being taxed at all.
