The weather this morning is most unfavorable for shooting. A strong N.W. wind is so strong that it would be inadvisable : to attempt to put up the large targets, therefore only the short ranges will be fired to-day, The sand around the trenches is drifting about in large quantities making it very unpleasant. As the entries number only 175, the Counoil met this morning and decided to make a reduction of ten per cent in all prizes over LI except in the Marlborough match for whioh the money was subscribed by the lopal residents. It Is blowing half gale of wind, and up to tho luncheon adjournment only the first range, Wellington match, sevon shots, 200 yds was completed, Purnell, Wanganui, and Storey, Blenheim, being top with 29 each, several others being well up, The shooting is, of course, indifferent, The 200 yds range of tho Hawkes Bay match is to be fired this afternoon, The following Wairarapa competitors are mentioned in the list of prize winners in the New Plymouth match of 800 yds, ten shots:—Corporal McKenzie, Masterton, 85, £2; Color Sergeant Willason, Greytown, 38, £l. The first of £8 was secured by Gunner Howe, Wellington, with 88 points.

In the 200 yds New Plymouth match, 7 shots, and 200 yds Hawkes Bay match, 10 shots, Sergeant Reid, Carterton, has scored 26 and 40 points respectively.

Mpre Fires. Auckland, March 18. Three fire's occurred yesterday. Two wero unimportant, but the third gutted a number of shops on the Karangahape road. Fireman Brandgan, who was enveloped in flames on verandah, was seriously, burned.'
