The Wairarapa Daily. MONDAY MARCH 18, 1889. Pastoral Show Amalgamation.
We have long desired to-see that union in the .Wairarapa in Agricultural and Pastoral interests which is so essential to the progress' of the district, as a whole, and to the happiness of the community. The result of the. two meetings hold'on Saturday last at Masterton and Carterton respectively, if not all we could wish, is decidedly a step in the right direction. A committee, consisting of Jhrei 'l'epresentative members from either Society, submitted to ' % meetings alternative proposals, ofwhij 11 ou 'y m mot w '^' a {mv ' able reception',.!>#?»W by the northern meeting, a.proviso at Carterton, The;'.'. disinterested persons, is chosen, there may be disappointment, but there will not be a sense" of guevanoe, which would lead to reprisals. When the Assembly meots in Wellington, there will bo available tho services of Pastoial Show experts fiom Canterbury and Otago, who could absolutely decide the site difficulty on its merits. If ftp joint Comrmtcee, representing the two Booielies, weie allowed to add to its numbei one or three outside experts, we could piobably obtain a solution of the site question, which might be accepted as binding by all honorable-minded settlers in the district.-.' •.. ::':'■•". \;S'',. ;; .*^}-r- :
