Tho Borough Council last night resolved itself into a Board of Health and passed a resolution calling upon the Native Trust to clean out; their portion of the Tidal Creek, drain, and the Public Works Department their portion. The Council lias already Bpent large Bums of money on the improvement of the Tidal Creek, nnder the impression tho ...Native Trust would contribute, but the Trust declined to contribute anything. All cases of sickness within the town : are influenced by this drain.

Dunedin, March 14. ,At the Police Court to-day three youths were fined XI 13s each in all, or three days imprisonment, for setting fire to srass and flax, The information was laid under the Police Offences Act instead of the Malicious Injury to Proporty Act, where there is no alternative to imprisonment, the proseoutor not wishing to bo severe, but to warn others, The youths wure out rabbit shooting, and used 'fire to drive the rabbits out of the flax.
