Nineteenth series, compviae 11,600 bales, including 1100 baleb Australian. ; At the tallow auction 'sales to-day, 1,575 casks were offered, of whi:h 760 were' sold. Mutton, medium quality 23s 6d; beef medium, 245. At the public sale of- Australian woolled sheepskins to-day there was an avera?o attendance of Home and foreign buyers. The biddings were eager and the market is firmer. Cross, breds, fine greasy, realised 6d, inferior and faulty 6d; merinos, medium, greasy, 6d, .' The English wheat nmvketis lifeless and Continental inactive, and the American' has experienced a heavy decline.

The.Australian wheat yield is estimated : nt 17,000,000 bushels.. The season has, howover b6en 'fair for other cereals, and 'also root crops, which will allow potatoes and other vegetables in some measure to take the place of ; wheat, It is, however, too early to estimate precisely the yield of root crops, and the exact effect of their consumption on the. wheat market.
