Acclimatisation.
CHmaioHUBOH, March 8. The Canterbury' Acclimatisation Society to-day fixed the date for opening and closing the shooting season as follows:—Native game, March 80 to June 80; pheasants and quail, May 1 to June 80 j hares, March 80 to June 81, both days inclusive, A sub-committee was appointed to draft an application to the Government for Canterbury's share of tho salmon ova about to arrive in the' Colony, tho same having previously been 'declined on the ground that they were intended for the Aparima river in Southland. It was reported that several Healthy young salmon were found when recently cleaning out the ponds,
The Produce Trade, Dunedin, Maroh 8. • The. produce trade between this Colony and New South Wales having i developed largely of late, the Union company have found it' necessary to secure more wharfage, tion at Sydney. The Company has obtained the lease of a fine property fronting iJruitt-streefc, just above the Pyrmont bridge, and are about to erect extensive wharfage accommodation, which is expected fo be available for this grain season, The site is in the immediate neighborhood ot all the produce places of business, The "present wharf and premises will also be maintained.. ■
