A letter from our Eketabuna correspondent• in another .column, points-out that in that progressive centre a creditor,- when; he seeks;, to recover a debt, has first to make an aflidarit before a Justice, then get the plaint sent down tq.Masterton, and from there the summons is forwarded to Woodville for service, The credi-; tor at the time stated will have to appear at the R. 51. Court-, Masterton, before he can ascertain whether the amount has been paid in or not, Now, without allowing for modest quenchers' or oven for a square'meal, the return trip to Masterton cannot be made under fifteen shillings and tenpenco, Again, as the Court sits at 11 a.m. and the train does not leave Mangemahoe until 1.10 p.m., the creditor is compelled ;to leave bis home the day before the Court is held, und, as it sometimes happens, a case is not over until the train has departed, the unfortunate creditor has to,put in another night and day over the business. Thus three days would be lost, and unless the amount is pretty consider* able, it would never pay the tradesmen to sue for a debt. Under'these cir-

cumstances Eketahuiia people will act wisely in refusing tn.give one another credit, . The population of the township, however, quite justifies a monthly Bitting of the R,M, Court being held there, and if proper representation is made to the' authorities, no doubt a concession of this kind will be readily granted. ,
