It was resolved to melee enquiries as to whether the Croivn grant of : the .properties through which the road would be taken had matured. The Clerk wan instructed to fori ward tracings of the proposed road toMiMMikito the Surrey Department. ':
It was resolved that Messrs Murray Roberts and Co. be asked if they will recognise the road laid off by them at Te Ore Ore, as a publia thoroughfare, so that : it may be extended to the main read; also Tbat Mr Wardell be asked if he objects to a road being taken through Te Whiti West. The Clerk was instructed to write to the Surveyor General and ask him to reply to the commnriieation sent "to him ro legalising rofad through Native lands at Te Ore Ore. It was resolved that tub sum of £6 be expended on Mr Blatchford's road, and.3os on Mr Christiansen's road at J?ernridge. The Overseer's' report[ w*s read as follows:
Wangaehu Koad.—The contract in tho hands of Mr Stevens on this line is progressing fairly well, about 75 chains of the formatioii has been completed with the exception of a few chiverta and a small bridce, the roost of tho timber for whicti.is on the ground. A.progress pay|rnent of JE9O can be made which is about 75 per cent of the value of the work done. Mr vVoolfe has completed about ;59 chains of the formation inlhis contract. | with tho exception also "of a few culverts. A process payment of £SO can be uiado on account. Upper Opaki Road.-)-Plans and specifications for formation, stone ■picking, clearing, 4c,, on the line have been prepared and tenders called for the work. Mauriceville West Read.—Tenders close to-day for chains on this road for which plans and specifications have also been prepared. I would recommend that arrangcmentSi bo made to have the protective works at the ford leading to the property of Mr Yv". lorns constructed by day labour and will ask; the Board to authorise me to have tb&sani'o done.
The following resolution was adopted on the motion of Mr J, Stuckcy :—The Master'ton Jftoad Board desires that any bill for legalising roads should apply to the whole colony, but considers !the matter should be brought tinder the notice of the Government by the combined local ' bodies of the - IWeltington district, and that the Cou lty Council should take the question tp. The following teuders w ;re accepted Stona picking on Opaki, H. J. Chris tianseti 2s per chain. Formation on same road, Car h'ner & Co., £7. Meialliu" on Y> r es 6 Mauriceville Road, Leslie Dorset 19s 8 3 per chain, (conditional that Mr Evai MciCenao allows the inolal to be tak m from aia pit). Accounts amounting to £255, including interest on loan Were passed for payment, and the meeliag adjourned.
