Parneli Sympathisers.
Haweea, Wednesday.
A meeting of sympathisers with the .Parneli party was held here last evening, Mr Furlong in the chair, There was a good attendance, aud Mr McGuire moved and T. Hutchinson seconded a motion in favor of Home Eule, which was carried. On the motion of Mr Barton and the Mayor a subscription list was opened, and over £SO was subscribed iu the room. Mr Ballance had been inyitedbut wis unable to be present. He wrote strongly sympathising with the object and wishing the meeting success.

At Clyde, Mr Pyke has been presented with a purse of 160 sovs in recognition of his-.efforts over the Otago Central, He said lie would never rest till the Otago Central Railway was completed to Wanaka, He referred to Mr McKeriwgs an enemy to settlement, and "characterised Messrs Loudon, Stout and Fish, in connection with, the railway as inconsistent, The Premier, when visiting tho district had told him ho wished he had visited the Otago Central route before last session, for he had been misled as to, the character of the country, and. a very different' result might have occurred. Mr Pyke sjioku of the reduction of the number of_members and honorarium as antidemooratic measures that would work ill to the Colony, and predicted that there would be a town versus country, fight next session.
