I'or the Masterton Handicap, forester got the worst'of ari\urieveii start; but he -soon smothered his three opponents, not one of them being able to extend him, and lie waltzed: home an easy winner by half a jdozen, lengths; Cupid was served up very warm for this, but lie was never , dangerous ,in auy part of the journey, Esmeralda was thought to bo a good thing for tho'Nursery Handicap and the money was piled on : to her very thick, but Rosa Bonheiif upset the pot by landing the stakes with something in hand. The extra stone put on the black filly failed to bring her baclt to her opponents of the first day, and she ran an excellent second. The catch weight hacks brought out a field of seven of whom St. Helena was the pick, though Mariner headed her on the machine. The Spy : was made a' hot favorite for the Tradesmen's Handicap, but the knowing ones were upset this, time by Rollo, Mr Maoara's little horse coming away at the bottom oftbe straightand securing the judge's verdict with something' to spare.

A good start waa effected and Cid led to the'first jump whero lie came down a cropper, and young .Laing to.found to. bo a Rood deal hurt and lie was immediately removed. Lonehand then wont to tho front and led all tho way to tho last jump where he ran off anil Right Mower and Exchange following liiin, Taratahi, Who was thought to be clean out of it came along and won as he liked. A good start was effected, Giriri and Minme Palmer soon left the otes and raced neck and neck the wuole way. Giriri's jock evidently knew her capabilities . and lauded a winner by a short neck without tho aid of a w hip.
