Pans Fashions.
A Paris correspondent says:— Frenchwomen havo clung with extraordinary pertinacity to the dressimprover, thoroughly persuaded that it fully deserved this name; but they have given in at last, and promise no\v to be content with the smallest amount of cushion, and to forswear steels in ewry form. There is every prospect that fashion, means to be eclectic in the matter of skirts and things in general, the new model for autumn presenting unusual variety. Double-draped skirts have the fulness' both of the upper and under skirt pretty regularly distributed all the way round—a matter of necessity since steel runnings are dispensed with, for if tho amount of material were heaped on at the back the skirt would not hang evenly deprived of its metallic support. Nevertheless, tho front breadth of the underskirt is often plain, Symmetry is neither avoided nor sought after. . Some skirts have thin draperies, and so on, arranged symmetrically; others have not; there is no rule about the matter. Tunics are more often pleated than gathered nowadays, and are fuller than they were. Manufacturers are producing woollens with wide bands of another colour that may be pinked out in vandycks and festoons. Flounces are also on the list for next season, not merely as a trimming for tho bottom of skirts, or for thin transparent materials as thoy are worn at the present time; but as one of the several normal decorations to he applied to silk or wool—not vory commonly, perhaps, though sufficiently so to deserve special mention. ; Draped skirts are often combined with round-waisted bodices worn with belts fastened by a buckle. Some of the newest jerseys are made so, and havo no basques, or none apparent, This for every day dresses. Bound bodies of a smarter kind havo waistbands made of the same material us the trimmings, which may he a stripe, a piece of embroidery, some sort of galloon or passementerie, or merely straight folds of material. Very pretty dinner or theatro bodies, made in thin but not transparent tissues, have side pieces of some silken damask or brocade, cut in the shape of a triangle of which tho lines of the waist and side seams form the base and upright. For the rest the triangular system is oarried out to the end. A sort of figaro vest or Spencer, open in front and cut three quarter high, is a nice finish to a girlish toilette. The bodice worn underneath is close fitting, and secured at the waist by a sash or belt, and a short bouillonne of tho same material as the vest decorates the top of the closo sleeve. Blouses and Garibaldi skirts have hitherto only been applied to simple morning costumes bore, and it was reserved for an ekg'antc&i Trouville to inaugurate the black hunting, made with two skirts-one nearly as long as the other—both gathered at the waist, and trimmed with wide bauds of black velvet.
