CRICKET.
Masterton Second v. Star First,
The return match between those teams was played on tho-Park Oval-on {Saturday afternoon, and resulted in a victory foe the Masterton toam, Messrß Wickens mid Erskinc skippered the teams, Messrs Russell and D'Arcy acting as umpires. The Star team went first to the wickets, but very little stand was made, tho last wicket fulling for 59 runs, Hawke (16) being the only one to get into double figures, Erskine's bowling was very effective, his analysis showing ■ five wickets for seven runs.. The Masterton men then went in,and Williains and Kibbiewhite kept the field busy for some timo,. but .after the former was taken, the wickets fell fast, till Harrison and Whatman got together, and the field were treated to some leather hunting. The latter.-made somo splendid hits, und put together 20 beforo he ran himself out. Harrison (35; notout) played carefully for his runs. Only two wickets: were clean'bowled, W. E, Welch making five splendid catches. He made a i fine Attempt to securo a sixth, but with tho sun straight in his eyes, there was every excuse for not holding it, The following are the scores':
