Water v. Whiskey.
[to tiie editor,]
Sib.-I am not a teototallor; in fact, I'm fond ol a glass of giog at night-time, mill don't nee any sin in taking half a-dozeu glasses occasionally for "Auld Laug Syne," On the other, band, too much of a good tbingiabad! This applies equally toratpk to whiskey, as I found w > wnen * watlod up to my knees in tlio ditch in front .of the Post Office, on my way homo rather late last night. " Old man," says a passer-by, " you are reversing an excellent proverb, Your feet are cooled with water, and your head seems to have got hot with whiskey." I made a lunge at the joker an ho cleared off, and I rolled over in the guttor, This is "A Mare's Nest." I sobbed, I would rather roll outside any amount of Alfred Albert's wbiakoy than insido Alfred Williim'a water. To-day I've got a severe cold, and cannot attond business. To whom would you adviso me to send my bill of costs: tbo publican or the water-miller ? Kindly advise, Mr Editor. Yours in tho spirit, O.D.V.
