(To the Editor). V kini.—Permit me' through ; your columns to direct : the attention of ■ ratepayers to the questionable pro- i ceedings of the County, its last meeting. You 'report tliiP l Mr George Fannin' of Wellington wrote" ' stating that the cost'; of supplying a " new County map'would bo £25." Why was Mr George Fannin of Wollirf&ton asked,to prepare a new map for tho • County. Council while * there are several' properly qualified surveyors; and , draftsmen' in' Masterton, any one.of whom is quite: as well able to prepare the map as Mr . George Fannin, of .Wellington. I am dc.,t BATEfAVEK Wo understand that references have to be''made".at' the Wellington •' •Survey offiof which, renders it oon-, venient for the work to be pre- , pared by. a Wellington Agent." ; Perhaps it would have beat. : . better to have submitted a worm this nature to open tender,!.... - . .
