Unfavorable reports' of the crops continue from the upcoiuitry districts. At Forbes, where the yield' is expected to be small, Mr is selling at £l4 (notat. Sydney as mentioned in a previous telegram). At Cahowindra situated at the Belabula, river, the harvest is a failure, but at Grafton both grass and water aro in abundance, At Walgett, in the county of Barbadine, the rivers Nanioi and Barwon and'a chain of water holes have ceased to run. At Gilgandra in the county of Gowan, llio crop returns are given as nil. " Sydney, Novembor 6. Excessive heat was experienced throughout the colony yesterday. At Gfllgong, in tho Mudgeo district, the crops have been abandoned, and at Wilcannia : 'the heat * and drought are so severe that travelling has been rendered impossible. • "The principal block of buildings in the: Broken Hill township !\vas burned down yesterday. Owing to the lack of water tho fire obtained a complete hold, and among the buildings destroyed were the new premises of the Australian' Joint Stock and Union Banks. . The total amount of loss is not yet known. ' ;
