Information has been received froin Zanzibar thatseyeral African traders who have arrived -there give tidings of Stanley's expedition.-- They met the rear-guard; ■ about the end' 'of November,' which'was .moving'in, the : direction of Albert Nyanza.:' : At this time the main under Stanley himself, was well ahead, although the leader, had; been proatrated.lor some three weeks 'by an attack 'of fever. The advance of the oxpedidition was largely impeded by ; the dense forests and abounding marshes, and frequently tlio day's record .'gave only a mile and. a quarter ;iri the required direction. The party wore short of provisions, and had boon compelled to seize wlrat they' could from the tribes inhabiting the Country through which tlmy passed. When the traders left Stanley he expressed his intention to striko' northward for a time, and thon make for tho eastward, expecting to reach Wadelai in January.. Information has been received that forty of Stanley's party were drowned in fording a river, and:it is also mentioned that all his'<wliite comrades had perished. Stanley had not reached Wadelai.up to March last It is stated, that tho. fatalities among Stanley's party havo been 200.
