During the past fow days thero have bccn at intervals heavy showers of rain accompanied by cold strong winds from tho south. Last Friday night, tho new drapery store was opened, for exhibition only. There were a great many visitors, chiefly ladies, to see the show; on Saturday/ tliey were opened for business, and liberally patronised. Our pushing;,.and; prosperous townsman, Mr F." H. Wood, leaves this week for a trip to Molbourue; this gentleman's thorough knowledge of the Wairarapa, its products and capabilities conveniently fits hiin to do for this district what doubtless lie ft'ill attempt should opportunity offer, viz., be our representative in all matters connected with its products, capabilities, and prospects, hence the foregoing notice wishing him "Bon vayage." ,
