LAND BOARD.

A- meeting ofthe Land Board was held yesterday.' Messrs Merchant, (commissioner, in the chair), W. A. Fitzherbert, W. W. McCardlo, H. Bunny, and D. H, Macarthur, M.H.R. Messrs -Bartholomew and Dunn appliedfor a timber license for 300 acres in the Horowhenua blook. I was decided to set aside 800 acres and grant a tiinber license for three years under the forest regulations, amended io meet the ease, on payment of 8s per acre.' Mr 6. Whitoomb's application; for lease of the reserve .opposite seotion 23, Blook XII, Mangahao, was again considered and it was decided not to reduce the price from £6.per aero. It was deoidedto offer-land appliedfor by Mr B. E, Meredith, under the.Aot of 1887, weighted,with £49 for value of improvements aiid £2O cost of survoy at a price of 6s per acre. It was decided to cancel'the license for sectionOO, Bloek'Xl.'Kppuaranga, and re-offer the land at £$ per acre, weighted with £219 10s, value of improvements. The Pahiaka Eoad Board forwarded.amended proposals for the expenditure of accrued thirds in tho ; Masterton •• Mangahao and Masterton.Hawera,: WoodvilleMangahao and Woodville-Manga-tainok special settlement blocks. With regard to the Mastfirton-Man-gahao, it'-was decided to approve tho proposals, and request the Board to carry them out. The proposals with respect to the other ■ districts were approved.'
