" It's a confounded shame to treat an engraving like tbat 1" pointing tothiwindow. "Whatcanyon be thinking about to go and destroy a good thing—for it is a good thing, mind you!" "I destroy it," said the shopman in a rage. "What do you mean by saying 1 destroyed it ? And who arc you I should like to know ? I did'nt ask you to buy it, did I? You don't look as if you could understftud a good print when you sob one. I destroy it I Bless my soul, I bought it just as it is, and I would rather keep it till Doomsday than sell it to you; and why should you put yourself out about it I cannot think." "Why, I did it," said Turner. "Dia what ?—(lid you spoil it? If you did you iesera—" " No, no, man! uiynamois Turner, and I did tlio drawing and engraved the plato from it," "Bless my soul!" exclaimed the printseller. "Is it possible that, you arotho great Turner? Well, sir, I havo long desired to see you, and now that I have seen you I hope that I shall never see you again, for a moro disagreeable person I havo seldom met."
