TheWairarapaKugby Union,
A gonoral meeting of tbo Waivarapa Rugby Union was held at Carterton on Monday evening last, Mr E. M. D, Whatman in tbo Chair. The resignation of Mr S. H. Wiokorson, as Secretary and Treasurer to the Union was read and accepted with regret, and » hearty vote of thanks was accorded him for his valuable services to the Union during the past three years, Mr H, G, Snodgrass was appointed Secretary and Treasurer pro tern. Tbo balance sheet of tho Union to data was road and adopted, showing a credit balaneo of £l6los 3d, The balanco sheet in connection with the visit of tho English football team to the \Yairarapa was also read and adopted, showing thatthe expenditure exceeded the receipts by £3 is. This was con. sidoreda very satisfactory , statement, the' members feeling • that the - slight loss was more .thin compensated for" by the extra interest the visit occasioned in football, and also by tho great • good thodistrict experienced generally, i As this was the second general mooting * that tho Grey town delegate neglected, to attend, the members present ex-' pressed their regret at tho absence, of, the delegates, such expression to be re- : 1 corded on the minutes. It WAS resolved, upon tlio recomendation of tlio rotiring Secretary, Ujfee a sum of £7los towards the oxjionßes of tlio Union team that played in tho match against tlio NVollineton Union this season. Several accounts were passed for paymont. Messrs Whatman, Snodgrass, D'Arcy. Ellers, and C. Beard, wero appointed ft sub-committee to consider the amendments and alterations to the Rugby Union ltulcs, as suggested k Mr Bato of Wellington, tho committee to meet at Waatcrtou, on Saturday, Novomber 3rd at 7.30 p,m. Tho meeting adjourned with the usual complimont to the chair.
