Plaintiff is a oharwoman, and hadbeon cleaning up defendant's house, wlienlie missed two £lo.notes. Aocording to her version, he 'called next day with another man, and said he had missed money from his desk; that she was the only person in hk room, and that therefore she had! stolen it. In consequence, sho had been unable to get other work, For the defence, the ovidenco went to show that, wheit Stephenson, called, he merely informed her of money having been lost, and asked her if she had sean anything of it, He had informed the police without mentioning anyone as the thief, Defendant's counsel contended it was an attempt to extort money, and the jury gave a verdict for Stephenson.
