STANLEY. STANLEY is a beautiful dapplo bay, stands noarly 17 Hands high a tromondcusly heavy boned homo, very proportionately made, and is onooftho beat actioncd horses in the colony, and is admitted to bts the best colt of Ins age in tho North Island. Stanley being a lliree-year-old colt will be limited to 25 mares only. PEDIGREE STANLEY, rising three-year-old. Bis siro, Clydesdale Hero, was bred by Mr Hodgo, Green Hills, Yictoiia, a noted prize taker in Victoria, and a very successful stock getter. Clydesdalo Hero was tho sire ot that noted Prizctakor Fanner's Friend, bred in Canterbury and exported to Melbourne, Victoria, and was awarded lirat honors at tho Grand National Show anil beating all comers, Colonial and imported horses and is at present the champion horso of the colomos. Clydesdale Horo, dam Jess, is by Lothian Tam (imported), grand dam Nance, by Black Champion, imported to Tasmania. Clydesdalo Hero's dam i 3 tho winner of live first prizes and three second at Kyncton and Sandhurst, Victoria. His sire, Lord Clyde, imported from Scotland by that noted breeder, James Crawford, Esq., Kyncton, Victoria, bred by D. MoFnrlanc, Esq., Torr. Holensburgh out of Jess, grand dam Tibbie, grand sire Clydesdale Sam, g.g, sire Old Florence. Lord Clyde, got by Emporor grand sire Sir Walter Scott, the property of tho Duke of Hamilton, gg siro Old Prince, gg g siro Old Clyde, Lord Clyde gained many prizes in Scotland, Ist at Bishopbrigg, Ist at Kirkintilloch, Ist at Kilbride, also first at Johnston; when two years old Ist at Barrhead, Ist at Johnson, Ist at Renfrewshire and 2nd prizo at tho Highland Society's show at Glasgow (1870), At thrco years old ho gained the Amandalo Society prizo of £lO for best stallion, open to all ages, anil Ist prizo at tho Highland Society's Show at Aberdeen (18(18). Blossom's dam Violet was by tlw pure bred Clydesdalo (Napoleon), imported to Now Zealand from Scotland by tho late John jNiuiino Esq, of Taieri, Otago. Napoleon was a jjreat prize taker in Scotland, and as a siro was ono of the best wc have had in New Zealand, thus showing Stanleys high class lineage, who cannot fail to produco first class stock.
