Work's resignation on tho 4th August bo agreed to. Amounts passed for payment JUI) 18s, Resolved that tho Bums paid on August 4th to T. Harland £8 10s, McGovorn £2 2s, T. S. Farcer, X's 15s be passed. Letters were read from J. Sperroy re giving information to Property-tax Assessors, was granted. A loiter was read from Messrs J. Payloiii Co,, asking for a share of advortiso- J moiits, and stating that their charges > were far lighter than those mado in i other quarters, Resolved that Messrs Payton & Co. be written to for inferraon re adfflrtising charges. A low from MP. Stuart protesting against the valuation of W. V. Jackson's land, that it is excessive, as lie considers tho land is not worth f 1 per acre. The chairman informed the Board that he had seen Mr , Stuart and pointed out to him that thooarppor time to appeal against vawons was when the Property- ■ tax Assessment was made. J. Sporrey wrote pointing out that tiio area of Education reserve, was entered wrongly in the three road districts of Castlepoint, Alfrcdton. and Upper Taueru, and requesting alterations to bo made as follows:—Castlepoint district portion, correct area, 510 instead of 14!)8. Upper I'aueru, 2855, instead of 2300. Alfredton, 4,100 instead of 4G75. Agreed to. A letter was read from Messrs Fannin and Caldwoll, of Wellington, offering to perform any work the Board may require. Mr Nicol waited upon tho Board requesting that something be done on tho track to his property. Resolved that as the greater part of the land to which the proposed track leads is situated in tho Castlepoint district tliJOoard be written to asking for a grant towards tho work. Tho action of tho chairman hi putting on an extra hand for four and a half days at (is per day to clear away slips dnrkk August, was endorsed, The roadjpn's account for twenty-four days work ut Cg G'd per day, £ti 12s, i was passed for payment.
