A collision took place in the English Cliannol yesterday between the Newcastle steamer Bosphorus and the ship Abbeytown, bound for Warnainbool ladeu with cement. The Bosphorus sank, but the crew were saved by the Abbeytown, which reached Plymouth with her bows stove in.

Brisbane, August 15. The steamer Afghan, 1489 tons, from Poo Chow to Sydney, with 5000 tons of tea, has gone ashore off Cockburn reef, Torres Straits. The fore compartment is full of water, and about 500 tons of tea are damaged. It is considered probable that the steamer will bp floated off.
