Alfredton Road District.

A meeting of the Koad Board wag held on August 7th, Present—Messrs Kebbell (Chairman), Benton, Holmes Warren, Dunn, and Cross, The minutes of last meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence was read as follows Property Tux Commissioner, reDistrictcomin" valuations From same, stating that he is not in a position to supply note of Crown Lands sold. From W. G. Beard, re charges of Messrs Belly, Gully and Izard disputed by Board. From same, deducting amount objected to, and requesting that his account bo paid. Castlepoint Road Board, remitting £lO, being part of Holmes Warren's rates paid to that Board last year. Bank of New Zealand, re £2OO, part of Tawataia loan, Same, re cheque sent to M. Cuselberg and Co. From Commissioner Crown Lands, stating that Government h&vo decided that local bodies must omploy private individuals to get particulars.of Crown Lands sold. Same, giving names of suitable parties to supply same. Land Board, requesting specifications of Tawataia Road contracts, also litho showing position of contracts. County Clerk, enclosing voucher for £54 7s 6d. Same, giving alterations in rate book, etc. C. E, C, Smith, re his contract on Ihuraua Valley road, and asking if Board will make progress payments on same. Scottish and New Zealand Investment Co,, ro change of Mr Pat. Bramiigan's property. J. McMillan, re three chains metalling overpaid him, ti, Billett, enolosing 15s rates in arrear on his sections 7 and 8, Tawataia subdivision, and requesting Board to take his name off roll, as ho has surrendered his lease. J. Pay ton and Co,, enclosing account, John Bowatead, staling that lio was paying £1 6s an acre, and enolosing sketch of road line to bo felled. Win, Murdook, requesting that his leasehold thirds be spent on the right of road loading to his place in clearing the lino and putting in a culvert, and offering to do tho work for thirds due, Eesolved.—That the Board do not intend to make progress payments on Ihuraua Yalley contract. That when the road is in use the Board will repay Bowstead the price of bush felled on road line. That Murdook'a request be granted, subject to approval of Land Board, and that Mr Cross pass tho work. That Mr J. T. Puffy be requested to
