The Wairarapa Poultry Show.

Greae interest is being takeu in the forthcoming Wairarapa Poultry Show, which takes place at" tho Mastorton Volunteer Drill Shed on Thursday and Friday next, The entries from all parts of the Valley and Wellington, in poultry, number just three hundred, which is double the number of last year. Amongst tho turkeys are some very fine specimens of tho Amorican Bronze variety which has been introduced to this district at great expense and trouble. In geese the Toulouse breed, noted for its size and quality' will be shown. Tho remainder of the exhibits consists of pigeons, canaries, capons, cockatoos, incubators, guinea pigs, and dressed poultry. The last two are innovations, and the novelty will, no doubt, prove an additional attraction. We think some of our sixth standard girls might have entered in this class. It is astonishing to find few bow how to dress a fowl .fit for tho table, yet a knowledge of freehand drawing (and trussing) iu this particular line will-in their future life ■ prove inure ' -serviceable than the so called accomplishments which they now endeavor to excel in, The prizes offered in all classos are for the /first 7s Gd,' for the second 4s, and:, for the third a certificate. Tho Committee have appointed- a special person' to take charge of the birds anil feed and water them, and every reasonable care is taken that no exhibits are damaged. The Exhibition will bo opeu on ..the first day from 2 o'clock to 10 p'.m, admission one shilling." On the second day the show will be open from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. when the same charge will be made, membors will be admitted free on production of their tickets which are not transferable, Tho Committee are to be congratulated upon their success in securing first clasa judges, For poultry the services of a gentleman from Christchurch have been secured, and ho is considered second to none iu New Zealand as a judge.
