The Australian Eleven.
No team strong enougli; to,6ea't;tbe present A ustralian cricketing; eleven bug yet been put together, and, in fact, no team that has yet faced thorn has been able to make a firm stand against them. Their single innings victories over Sturey, Warwickshire,'and'Yorkshire, provo them to be cricketers of the first class. I believe it had been said of them that they are the strongest combination ever brought out! . The team is particularly strong in bowling in which'department Mr Turner, popularly known as the " Terror" is a noteablo figure. No trundlor ever left the Antipodes with such a reputation, and Ihave before me a few interesting points in his career, He bowls a little above medium pace, with an "offbreak," and the ball rises very fast from the pitch. Ho sends down very few loose bulls, believes in a fast "yorker" at times, and nearly always clean bowls his man. When only 17 years old Mr Turner played in the Twenty-two of Bathurst against the English team in Australia, captained by Lord Harris. In that match he did nothing worth mentioning, but two years later—in 1881—his performance with the ball against Shaw and Shrewsbury's Eleven has seldom been equalled in a first-class contest, for in the Englishmen's liwt innings ho took seven wickets for 33 runs, and in the second, all ten wickets for only 3G runs. Sinco that time he has made rapid progress as a bowler and since his arrival in England has, ulongwiik Mr Ferris, done the major part of Australian bowling with imukcd success, The season is young yet, and I am qmto sure that England will bo ablo to put a team together who can deal with the Australians as (lieyhave dewlt with Surrey and Yorkshire,— '•Yorkshire Post,"
