Eketahuna Road Board.
An ordinary meeting of the Board was held at the office of the Board on the 28th July. Present.—Messrs A, Anderson (Chairman), M. Nilson, and A. Wylie.. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. Correspondence inwards:— From County Council re expenditure of publican's license fees in Eketahuna. From County Engineer with certificates passing bridges constructed by Messrs Daniell and McDonald, and recommending the payment of £8 to Mr Daiiioll for extra work. Prom same, passing the metal hauling by A. Anderson. From W. C. Smith, M.H.E., with amended Pahiatua County'Bill. .From W. Nagle stating he caunot find his section pegs of the Central Mangaone line. From Commissioner of Crown Lands stating that local bodies will have to employ someone to make extracts from the records at the' Crown Lauds offices of lands sold, From Property Tax Commissioner requesting returns of rites collected. From same requesting intended valuators may be allowed to inspect rolls. -From secretary Parkyille Settlement Association with list of section owners in Parkville township. Resolved that Mr Neilsou's offer to open the Central Mangaone road fox 12 10s be accepted. That an application of Mr McDonald to have 22 chains of bush fell 'on road line be granted. That, in reference, to an application ftora Mr Toswill, .this Board will not at present- engage an official: solicitor. That £l' be allowed '.to remove a tree from the Makakahiford at the Hawera road, and that Mr Davie be asked to haye it done. That the County Engineer be requested to inspect a subsidence which had taken place in the suspension bridge at the Central Mangaone Road.' That the Board insist on Mr Carter paying the amount, originally claimed for removing fallen trees from the road. That the public Trusteo be applied to to remove trees fallen from the late J. O'Brien's section. That Hie County Council be requested to erect a pound at Eketahuna, and levy a fis tax ou dogs and allow the fees to the Board after payment of expenses. Accounts amounting to £O7 Os 10d were passed for payment. Messrs Nilson and Wylie were appointed to sign cheques. As only a quorum of members were present it was decided to meet again in a week to decide on the amount of rate to be levied, and the meeting adjourned.
