TO THE EDITOR, Sib,—Will you kindly insert theso few lines in your widely circulated papor for tho benefit of whoever it may concern, I have a child who has been afflicted with an obstinato skin disease of a most itching nature for more than sevon years, When six weeks old, or thereabouts, small reddish spots appeared in the face about tho size of a pin's head, Of course a mcdical'man was applied to, but it steadily increased until face aud head wero ono dark brown crust of sores. Then it spread to tho body, chest, back,joints,aud all lleshy parts. Medical skill appeared to bo of no use, but often, made him worso, In despair I looked upon tho doctors as useless beings of tho community. On the 17th September last tho child was shown to Dr Specr, now residing in Wellington, On looking at him for a minute or two he struck at the root of the diseaso at once, as a man of great skill can do. After the first five days' treatment; small stripes of healthy skin became visiblo; in less than a month tho face was clean two months a wonderful improvement on tho body, After four mouths treatment there only remains a few marks on tho legs and wrists, Tho child is still under Dr Speer'B care, as he declares It will take some time yet to entirely romove it from his system. It must also not bo forgotton to add that tho medicines have not had the least unpleasant effect on tjio internal organs, which always was tho case in previous treatments. So I can confidently advise anyone who should be so unfortunate as to require medical aid to call on Dr Speer for advice, > I am &c, A, ANDERSON, Joussonvulb, 23rd January, 1888. I will willingly givo any further information to any person who will either call or address mo at Johnsonvillc, Pjstosu, l'lth May, 1888. TO DR SPEER, Dear Bin, —It is now about seven years since 1 was first attacked with a bad form of skin disease. It mado its appearanco in tho shape of pimples, which rapidly spread over tho wholo body, and soon affected my health so seriously that I grew to bo a confirmed invalid, Naturally, 1 soudit professional aid, going to thu best medical men in Wellington. I was treated by two of them in succession, but without any result to myself except tho loss ol a considerable sum of money. 'At the end of the year I found that 1 was not in tho least improved ; indeed, one of these gentlemen told mo candidly that everything possible had been done for me, and that I need not hope to lie cured, 1 then consulted a Wellington specialist, and paid him a good fco for a cure, but with exactly tho samo result—no change for the better. As a last resoura, I applied to you about threo months ago, and put myself under your hands. I riii glad to bo ablo to say that from tho first I received great benefit; my health commenced to hnprovo, my appetite also returned, and in a short time the disease itself showed unmistakcablo signs of giving way to the treatment, and now, after having been three nionlhs under your care, I can faithfully and thankfully report myself quite recovered, My health also is compeltely restored, and 1 feel now as 1 have not done for many years. As a token of my gratitude to you for so successfully treating mo at a time when [had lost all hopes of being'cured, I give yon this testimony, which you tire at liberty to inako public should you so desiro it. I will also give information respecting the case to anyone who may apply to mo for tho same JOHN DOCHERTY, TO DR. SPEER, Wellington, 3rd May, 1888. Not only wns tho skin bad, but the flush in n short timo became seriously affected, and largo angry ulcers made their appearance. My legs grod worso and worse, until I was finally obliged to knock off work and seek reliof from somo medical man in Wellington. On my arrival hero I noticed in the papers tho complete cure of Mrs Andorson's littlo son, and 1 at onco applied to you, and placed myself uudor your care, feeling certain of being cured, Now, or within ono month of my commencing treatment, lam glad to bo uoiu to si j 4'iat my expectations aro being fully realised, I contracted this disease uuiing Imf occupation as a miner, through remaining two long in the water. It first made itl appearance in small pimples, gradually increasing and extending ovor from tho kneo downward. Tho eruption was accompanied by mtollerablo ng, Aftor tho first week's treatment largo patches of sound skin began to show. Theso increased in size and wero healthy in appearanco, tho sores and ulcers at tho same timo decreasing in a very marked manner. This progress continued, as day after day tho legs got better, and 1 am now ablo to carry out my design of visiting Europe, loaviiu? to°day by the Huapohu. 1 am fully satisfied that by tho time 1 reach my destination 1 will bB quite restored/ lam glad to be. able to givo this testimony as to your ability to treat diseases of tho skin, and w 11 add, in conclusion, that your charge for treating mo was very moderato. This testimony is duo to you, not only for tho successful trcaimo of tk o caso, but also for the barely nominal charge you mado mo. \ Yours truly, MRS ROBERTS, ■;
