THE BLENHEIM MYSTERY.
,•;;•. Blenheim, Tuesday. A. 0. Smith; alias Long, was brought before the Resident Magistrate yesterday, and further remanded to Saturday noxt, awaiting Insurance papers from Duuedin. LATER, The Magisterial inquiry in the case of alleged arson Long was resumed yesterday. The evideuce showed accused was found outside the burning house very slightly bound. No scuffling or noise was heard by tho naigli-bors.-The purchase of, 40or BOlbs tow by the accused was - proved; also the : discovery of a watch and chain, carefully planted, though he had, said the robbers took it. Goods were found in the Wesleyau Church grounds the morning after the fire, though accused said all were burned. He was further remanded last evening till this morning. Constable Cooper, of Masterton, identified accused as Alexander Smith, carpenter, who had resided at Masterton 18 months. Other evidence as to the contradictory statements made by accused was given, ami he was romanded to Saturday for the production of an absent witness and documents, Great interest is manifested in the case, and the Court was crowded,
