ST. PATRICK'S CHURCH.
The seating accommodation at St. Patrick's Church, Masterton, was taxed to its utmost capacity at both morning and evening services yesterday, Sol em n high mass was celebrated in the morning by the Rev. father Le Patre,'' assisted by the Very Eev,Father Devoy, S.M„of St. Patrick's College, Welliug-/ ton, and the local pastor, Rev. Father McKcnna. 'Johnson's Massof the Immaculate Conception was rendered except the Agnus Dei, from Wober's Mass in 6. which was sung by Mr H. J. Howe, and "Doua Nobis Pacom" by MrR.K.C. Coleman. The "Etlncarnatus" from Parmer's Mass was snug at the Offertory by Messrs Kowe, Coleman, and Gaskill," and tlm "0 Salularis," was rendered by Mr .Coloman, The Eov. father MeKenna delivered an eloquent sermon, taking for Ins text the 2Gth Chapter of St, Matthew, 26th to 28th verses, on the last supper, The sermon throughout dealt with the doctrine of transubstantiation, and the Keal Presence, and was listened to with onrapt attention, After the sermon, there was a procession, and adoration of tho Blessed Sacrament, Some dozen of young girls, dressed in white, with long bridal veils over their beads, surmounted with wreaths of flowers, headed the procession, vln their hands they. qarricd lighted citndlos.
