of every; description including insui-; anoe'against all risks.' The total cost of freezing, shipping, and selling the above amount'edto 2-47 d or nearly 2Jd per lb upon the -wight actually accounted for in; London. The difference between the weight, sent fronY Carterton where the cattle were slaughtered, and the weight sold in London was ; very slight, the deficiency beiug covered by 1J per cent without any other allowances or deductions. This loss has been taken iuto account in the statement shown above, which represents the actual amount realised by the shipper. The amount realised for the fat was'uusatisfactory, and would probably have beeu considerably morebad the slaughtering been done under the auspices of the Meat Export Company. On the other hand the price obtained for the portion of the forequarter not shipped (f d per lb) was more than the Company' could have' obtained. '• The latest 'advices from London are, to ship the fore-quarter as well as the hind-quarter- intact. Returns have | been; received'' since. of beef shipped per" Tainui". in April on account'of the same owner, realising from 4fd to 4Jd for hind quarters and Sfd.fdr fore quarters, -■These, prices'would r have increased the. net'results of the.cattlo per "Ioiiio" by 88s per head upon the' i bullocks, and 28b per liieMV upon; the cows. '..\ln 'connection with: these figures, it must' be borne: iu inind tliat there is a reduction of'Jd per lb upon the charges were made; upon the shipment above mentioned.-This would make; a further very substantial difleroncb on thei amount realised by cattle it shipped at the present' time; and sold at similar prices in London-. Upwards of 200 head of cattle are now being frozen for the" Coptic" tq load next month. ■. .
