Tumor was ohurgvd on tlio infoi ination ol the police with having given an unstamped leceipt for '£lo ljsto George Jones, of Kketahuna, contiaiy to the provisions of the Stamp Act, 1882. Mr Pownall appealed foi defendant. Geoige Jonas gave evidence as to bis receiving the receipt unstamped from Mr Tumor, thiough the hitter's eleik. Defendant positively slated th:«t a btamped receipt had been handed to Jones, signed by witness' clerk. ' In addiessing the Com I defendant's ! councilpointcd out, on the account, the place whore the stamp had boon affixed. His Worship, after hearing the evidence foi the defence, and examining the document, dismissed the infornmlioii.without costs, CIVIL GASES. C. Pownall v. G, J, Jackson.—Claim £9 19s for solicitor's fees and fines paid. No appeaianco of defendant. Judgment for amount claimed with costs 31s. A. Selby v. F. White,—Judgment summon 1% 8s 3d. No appearance of defendant. Mr Pownall appeared for judgment creditor. Ordered to he paid within 1 i days or in default 7 days imprisonment in Wellington gaol, Louis Paigan v. John Engel.— Claim £8 9s Cd. Mr Bunny appealed for plaintiff, £{ was paid into Com b and an order was made foi tbo balance, oi, in default, seven daya' inipiiso"mont.
