This was a case 'in which the plaintiff sought to obtain a protection order from her husband, through an alleged constant illusage towards her, and also that he should pay a weekly Bum towards the support of the family. The order was granted, defendant to pay 10s a week, with costs of proceedings, 28s. Charge of Ass/um. W. Bennett v, W. Edwards. Mr Beard for defendant. Plaintiff deposed that he was a commission agent residing in Carterton, and that defendant had accused his son of taking money from him. and buying a hat with the amount, and when witness went to him and spoke to him about the matter and remonstrated with him about the remarks made about his boy he (the accused) struck him in the face. The defendant on oath, stated that the complainant came to where he (the defendant) was at work, and commenced abusing him, and made" a strike at him, and he put his hand up in self defence, and by so doing struck the complainant in the face.
