: Napier, Tuesday, -A little after one o'clock this morning a fire broke out, in Coljedge's jewellery shopand spread to Naplitali's pawnbroker, and Goodwin's, butcher, in Hastings street. All three premises are completely gutted. The insurances are: Collidgo's building £2OO in the Victoria, stock, £4OO in the South 'British, £250 Imperial and £250 Phoenix, Napthali's and Goodwin's shops are owned by tho New Zealand lusiirance Company, which runs its own risk, Naplitali's stock is uninsured in the Norwich (Jnion for £370. Agood deal of Oolledgo's stock is insured and a considerable quantity of Naplitali's was saved.

MURDER BY A NATIVE. Napier, July IG. A deliberate murder is reported from Wuinpn, A Maori shot his wife and then took to the bush. Tho police aro after him. No particulars to liand yet.
