_ At a meeting of ratepayers held last night, the action of Messrs. Wakenian Burrows and Aston was strongly condemned, and a resolution was passed requesting them to resign their position as licensing .commissioners was : carried. Another resolution passed as follows: "That the conduct |of Aston is unlawful, he occupying the position of bar keeper at Crowe's, Mangntainoka hotel, lie, at the samel time, being,a member, of Pahiatua licensing-committee. .
