Tho authorities havo decided to proceed criminally against Messrs Pelsoh, Doehling and Company for defrauding the Customs by undervaluing a shipment of pianos. Three men attempted to rob the Bank of Auslralash in Collins-street. Two of them attracted the attention of the clerks by jostling the customers, whilst a confederate attempted to take some bundles of notes, containing £ISOO, from the couuter. Tim attempt, however, was unsuccessful, and upon the plan failing tho gang decamped.

The ship Killochan, from Glasgow to Auckland, was towed into this port, to- Jay, dismasted. She reports baying experienced terrible weather off Cape Otway, where for some time the vessel was in great danger, July 10. The Captain of the ship Killochan, which arrived hero yesterday, reports that the vessel was partially dismasted on theGtk June, and completely so on the 11th, M'Lean, an apprentice, who was aloft when tho mishap occurred on the latter day, was carried overhoard and killed by tho floating wreckage.

Intelligence has been received from Now Guinea that tho Blacks have massacred six inhabitants of Biotia and captured three child™. Subsequently the Commissioner governing the island succeeded in arresting and punishing tho natives who were guilty of the outrage, The children were recovered.
