TO THE EDITOR, Siu,—Will you kindly insert these few lines in your widely circulated paper for the benefit of whoever it may concern, I have a child who has been afflicted with an obstinate skin disease of a most itching nature for more than seven years, When six weeks old, or '.hereabouts, small reddish spots appeared in the face about the size of a pin's head. Of course a medical man was applied to, but it steadily increased until face and head were one dark brown crust of sores. Then it spread to the body, chest, back, joints,and all fleshy parts. Medical skill appeared tobo of no use, but often, made him worse, In despair I looked upon the doctors as useless beings of the community. On the 17th September last the child was shown to Dr Speer, now residing in Wellington, On looking at him for a minute or two he struck at the root of the disease at once, as a man of great skill can do. After the first live days' treatment; small stripes of healthy sltiu became visible; in less than a mouth the face was clean two months a wonderful improvement on the body, After four months treatment there only remahls a few marks on tho legs and wrists. Tho child is still under Dr Speer's care, as he declares It will take some time yet to entirely remove it from his system. It must also not be forgotten to add that the medicines have not had tho least unpleasant effect on the internal organs, which always was the case in previous treatments. Dkar Sin,—lt is now about seven years since 1 was lirst attacked with a bad form of skin disease. It made its appearance in the shape of pimples, which rapidly ipread over the whole body, and Soon affected my health so seriously that I grew to be a confirmed invalid. Naturally, I soutdit professional aid, going to tho best medical men in Wellington. I was treated by two of them iii'succession, but without any result to myself except the loss of a considerable sum of money. At tho end of the year 1 found that I.was not in the least improved ; indeed, one of these gentlemen told me candidly that everything possible had been done for me, and that 1 need not hope to be cured, 1' then consulted a Wellington specialist, and paid him a good fee for a euro, but with exactly the same result—no change for the better. As a last resource I applied to you about three months ago, and put myself under your hands. lam glad to be able to say that from the first I received great benefit; my health commenced to improve, my appetite also returned, and in a short time the disease itself showed unmistakeable signs of giving way to the treatment, and now, after having been throe months under your care, I can faithfully and thankfully report myself quite recovered, My health also is compeltely restored, and 1 feel now as 1 have not done for many years. TO DR, SPEER, Wellington, 3rd May, 1888, SIR,—For a considcraolc lime past I have been a great sufferer from skin disease in my legs, extending from the knee to the foot. Not only was the skin bad, but the flesh in a short time became seriously affected, and large angry ulcers made their appearance. My legs gred worse and worse, until 1 was finally obliged to knock off work and seek relief from some medical man in Wellington. On my arrival here I noticed in the papers the complete cure of Mrs Anderson's little son, and 1 at ouce applied to you, and placed myself under youi' care, feeling certain of beiii" cured, Now, or within one month of my commencing treatment, lam glad to be able to say that my expectations are being fully realised. 1 contracted this disease during my occupation as a miner, through remaining two long in the water. It lirst made its appearance in small pimples, gradually increasing and extending over the legs from the knee downward. Tho eruption was accompanied by mtollerable itching. After the first week's treatment large patches of sound skin began to show, These increased in size and were healthy m appearance, the sores and ulcers at the same time decreasing in a very marked manner. This progress continued, as day after day the legs got better, and 1 am now able to carry out my design of visiting Europe, leaving to-day by the Euapehu. 1 am fully satisfied that by the time 1 reach my destination 1 will be quite restored, lam glad to be able to give this testimony as to youv ability to treat diseases of the slun, and will add, in conclusion, that your charge for treating me was very moderate.
